Just the other day, we told you how an untitled entry in The Conjuring movie universe had been assigned a July 3rd, 2019 release date by Warner Bros. The latest Conjuring movie will of course hit theaters on September 7th of this year, that being The Nun.
At the time, our best guesses were that the untitled film set to release on July 3rd, 2019 was either The Conjuring 3 or The Crooked Man’s spin-off. After all, those were the only two Conjuring films currently announced as of that writing.
However, it turns out that the July 3rd movie won’t be either of those projects. Instead, THR reports that the prime summer release date will be occupied by a third Annabelle movie, following 2014’s Annabelle and 2017’s Annabelle: Creation.
While Annabelle 3 doesn’t yet have a title, the script for the threequel will be written by Gary Dauberman, who penned both prior Annabelle films, as well as The Nun. This entry will also serve as Dauberman’s directorial debut.
What Annabelle 3 will actually be about has yet to be revealed, so we don’t know where in The Conjuring timeline it’ll be set. Annabelle: Creation was of course a prequel to Annabelle (2014), which was itself a prequel to the original Conjuring.
