Rob Zombie Shoots Down Rumors of a ‘Creature from the Black Lagoon’ Project

Published

on

It’s always been common for things to be taken out of context and sensationalized in the media, but with the internet, it just happens even faster. Sometimes people end up getting their hopes up from a comment made in passing and it turns out to be a big deal when it was never intended to.

Thankfully, Rob Zombie has always been one to make sure his comments are never taken out of context if he can help it. The musician/director will be the first one to tell you when a statement about him is bogus.

Case in point: it’s been circulating around the internet that Zombie is interested in rebooting Universal’s The Creature from the Black Lagoon. And it’s been spreading like wildfire. The thing is, Rob Zombie never said he wanted to do it – not exactly, anyway.

In a YouTube interview for HDNet Movies which was posted last year, Zombie was asked which old horror movie he’d like to remake. He said most of the classics that he loved from way back he wouldn’t want to remake because they are classics due to the specific actors. He did, however, say this:

One thing I always thought was possible was to remake Creature from the Black Lagoon because the creature itself, in that phenomenal suit they constructed, could be exactly the same. So I think Creature from the Black Lagoon could be a cool one.

As this interview began spreading recently, the director clarified, saying that he doesn’t actually intend on remaking the film. From his Instagram account:

Fake news. Fyi before people start asking me about this. I have no idea what this article about. I am not interested in developing this project. I think I said it could be a cool remake. That’s it. Ugh, internet. #robzombie #notthinkingaboutcreaturefromtheblacklagoon #fakenews

The original comment, though now unintentional, did indeed seem to point towards Zombie having an interest in remaking it. Thankfully, his clarification can help people not to get their hopes up and to move on from this idea that the director clearly has no interest in bringing to life.

However, a follow-up to The Devil’s Rejects has recently been completed filming, titled 3 From Hell. And that is not fake news!

Eli Roth (Cabin Fever) and Crypt TV are knocking it out of the park with their new VR show, The Faceless Lady. For those unaware, this is the first fully scripted VR horror show on the market.

Even for masters of horror like Eli Roth and Crypt TV, this is a monumental undertaking. However, if I trust anyone to change the way that we experience horror, it would be these two legends.

The Faceless Lady

Ripped from the pages of Irish folklore, The Faceless Lady tells the story of a tragic spirit cursed to wander the halls of her castle for all of eternity. However, when three young couples are invited to the castle for a series of games, their fates may soon change.

So far, the story has provided horror fans with a gripping game of life or death that doesn’t look as if it will slow down in episode five. Luckily, we have an exclusive clip that may be able to satiate your appetites until the new premiere.

Airing on 4/25 at 5pmPT/8pmET, episode five follows our final three contestants in this wicked game. As the stakes are raised ever higher, will Ella be able to fully awaken her connection with Lady Margaret?

A new trailer for the movie formerly known as Pussy Island just dropped and it has us intrigued. Now with the more restrained title, Blink Twice, this  Zoë Kravitz-directed black comedy is set to land in theaters on August 23.

The film is packed with stars including Channing Tatum, Naomi Ackie, Alia Shawkat, Simon Rex, Adria Arjona, Haley Joel Osment, Christian Slater, Kyle MacLachlan, and Geena Davis.

The trailer feels like a Benoit Blanc mystery; people are invited to a secluded location and disappear one by one, leaving one guest to figure out what is going on.

In the film, a billionaire named Slater King (Channing Tatum) invites a waitress named Frida (Naomi Ackie) to his private island, “It’s paradise.
