Along Came The Devil (formerly known as Tell Me Your Name) explores, not only possession, but tackles issues of abuse. The film is filled with pleasing and attractively haunting visuals all leading to a fantastic final act.

The story follows Ashley (Sydney Sweeney), a teenager who was horribly abused after her mother passed away. Ashley is sent off to live with her aunt, and she begins to experiences unpleasant noises and visions of her deceased mom. Even though Ashley struggles to adapt some normalcy starts to enter her life as she is reunited with her old friends. One evening, Ashley and her friend Hannah (Madison Lintz) decide to participate in a seance in hopes of contacting Ashley’s mother. After a sudden interruption by Ashley’s aunt, something very dark and sinister enters Ashley consuming this once vibrant and precious girl and the real terror began.

Inspired by “true events” the film creates an array of mystery and uneasiness for the viewer and I loved every minute of it! A part of me felt that the possession and everything surrounding the event was a way of showing the audience the adverse effects that abuse can have on a person. The movie served a dual purpose not just as an enjoyable horror film but also has the innate ability to bring real life matters to the table in an unconventional yet in a relatable manner.

I only have one complaint about this film: We see Ashley become possessed, her demeanor changes instantly, her personality becomes rough, she becomes somewhat reckless. The filmmakers only allow the audience to see this, briefly. I honestly would have liked to have seen more of the “reckless” Ashley. However, this was just a slight fall back for me. In return, we received a highly possessed Ashley during the final act. Sweeney’s performance along with the visual and makeup effects was stunning, bringing in a resonance of The Exorcist.

With many possession films out, approaching this film I was worried we were going to be given an ‘Exorcist’ rip off, and it was NOT! Along Came the Devil is an Exorcist movie for a new generation of movie-goers. Fans of possession films will enjoy and appreciate everything this film offers.

Along Came The Devil Will Release On Demand and Digital HD on August 10, 2018.

Even for masters of horror like Eli Roth and Crypt TV, this is a monumental undertaking. However, if I trust anyone to change the way that we experience horror, it would be these two legends.

Ripped from the pages of Irish folklore, The Faceless Lady tells the story of a tragic spirit cursed to wander the halls of her castle for all of eternity. However, when three young couples are invited to the castle for a series of games, their fates may soon change.

A new trailer for the movie formerly known as Pussy Island just dropped and it has us intrigued. Now with the more restrained title, Blink Twice, this  Zoë Kravitz-directed black comedy is set to land in theaters on August 23.

The film is packed with stars including Channing Tatum, Naomi Ackie, Alia Shawkat, Simon Rex, Adria Arjona, Haley Joel Osment, Christian Slater, Kyle MacLachlan, and Geena Davis.

The trailer feels like a Benoit Blanc mystery; people are invited to a secluded location and disappear one by one, leaving one guest to figure out what is going on.

In the film, a billionaire named Slater King (Channing Tatum) invites a waitress named Frida (Naomi Ackie) to his private island, “It’s paradise. Wild nights blend into sun-soaked days and everyone’s having a great time. No one wants this trip to end, but as strange things start to happen, Frida begins to question her reality. There is something wrong with this place. She’ll have to uncover the truth if she wants to make it out of this party alive.”
