80-Year-Old Charles Manson to Marry 26-Year-Old Follower. Cause America.

Published

on

Here on iHorror we don’t just talk about horror movies but also horror in real life, categorizing the latter posts under the banner ‘True Horror.’ And I can’t think of anything more truly horrifying than this week’s most shocking story, concerning the upcoming nuptials of supreme nutjob Charles Manson…

Just to give you a little refresher course on ole Charlie, he’s basically credited for single-handedly destroying the ‘hippie’ era and reminding America that people are inherently terrible, in the wake of his followers butchering seven people in the summer of 1969. Though the murders were carried out by Manson’s so-called ‘family,’ it was he who became synonymous with them, due to the fact that he was the brains of the operation.

It wasn’t long before Charles Manson became a household name, and in the years since Sharon Tate and friends were murdered, Manson has become somewhat of a cult icon, donning the t-shirts of misguided youths and continually amassing a stable of loyal followers and devotees. Again, people are terrible.

Yesterday, it was announced that Manson is set to marry one of those followers, a 26-year-old woman who has spent the last decade trying to free him. Though the 80-year-old Manson is locked up in prison, the marriage license has nevertheless been approved, and the wedding is likely to take place sometime next month.

Charles Manson wedding

“I love him,” said bride-to-be Afton Elaine Burton, who goes by the nickname ‘Star’. “I’m with him. There’s all kinds of things.”

Yea. She sounds totally normal.

Though Manson is not typically allowed visitors, an exception for the marriage is being made, and the lovers will be allowed to invite ten non-inmate guests. ‘Star’ says the marriage will give her access to information she’s not able to view as Manson’s girlfriend, which she hopes to use in an effort to free her sadistic hero. Because God forbid we didn’t give her access to that stuff.

In a world where same-sex marriage isn’t universally legal in this country, it’s of course both sickening and horrifying that a guy like Charles Manson is provided the luxury, as the issuing of a marriage license essentially states that homosexuals are more evil than one of the most evil men in American history. Go America!

The most troubling thing about all of this, however, is that Manson’s power is entirely in the department of mind control, as his whole M.O. is convincing young women to do terrible things. If there’s ANYTHING he should be prevented from doing in prison it’s conversing with impressionable young women, and the fact that he’s now marrying one is deeply horrifying.

But hey, this is America we’re talking about, so we can likely expect Manson’s wedding to be televised, and for him to become the next reality star. We’re doomed. We’re all doomed.

Watch ‘The Burning’ At The Location Where It Was Filmed

Published

on

Fangoria is reporting that fans of the 1981 slasher The Burning will be able to have a screening of the film at the location where it was filmed. The movie is set at Camp Blackfoot which is actually the Stonehaven Nature Preserve in Ransomville, New York.

This ticketed event will take place on August 3. Guests will be able to take a tour of the grounds as well as enjoy some campfire snacks along with the screening of The Burning.

The Burning

The film came out in the early ’80s when teen slashers were being churned out in magnum force. Thanks to Sean S. Cunningham’s Friday the 13th, filmmakers wanted to get in on the low-budget, high-profit movie market and a casket load of these types of films were produced, some better than others.

The Burning is one of the good ones, mostly because of the special effects from Tom Savini who had just come off of his groundbreaking work on Dawn of the Dead and Friday the 13th. He declined to do the sequel because of its illogical premise and instead signed on to do this movie. Also, a young Jason Alexander who would later go on to play George in Seinfeld is a featured player.

Because of its practical gore, The Burning had to be heavily edited before it received an R-rating. The MPAA was under the thumb of protest groups and political bigwigs to censor violent films at the time because slashers were just so graphic and detailed in their gore.

Tickets are $50, and if you want a special t-shirt, that will cost you another $25, You can get all the information by visiting the On Set Cinema webpage.
