The whole world may be talking about Zack Snyder’s Justice League, but that’s not the only film the director has in store for 2021. Snyder’s Army of the Dead is officially set to premiere on Netflix on May 21st.
The film follows a crew of mercenaries who set out to pull a heist in the quarantine zone of Las Vegas in the aftermath of a deadly zombie outbreak.
Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy) stars in the film alongside Ella Purnell, Ana De La Reguera, Theo Rossi, Huma Qureshi, Omari Hardwick, Tig Notaro, Hiroyuki Sanada, Garret Dillahunt, Matthias Schweighöfer, Raúl Castillo, Nora Arnezeder, and Samantha Win.
Netflix is obviously excited about the title’s release. According to Deadline, they’ve already given the greenlight to a prequel film as well as an animated series/spin-off titled The Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas. Schweighöfer, who recently appeared in the Prime Original You Are Wanted, will direct and star in the prequel film which will follow his character, Ludwig Dieter.
Snyder directed Army of the Dead and co-wrote the script with Shay Hatten and Joby Harold based on his own story idea.
