Hey, do you remember the TV documentary series In Search Of? Airing from 1977 to 1982, the series took in-depth looks at the paranormal and unexplained phenomena.
Subjects covered on the original In Search Of ranged all the way from Bigfoot, to UFOs, to even the JFK assassination and the Jack the Ripper murders. If something was unexplained or in dispute, the ISO team investigated it.
The original In Search Of was hosted by Star Trek legend Leonard Nimoy. A brief revival of the series aired on Syfy in 2002, and was hosted by The X-Files star Mitch Pileggi.
In Search Of has lain dormant in the years since, but that’s all about to change. According to Deadline, Zachary Quinto (American Horror Story) is set to produce and host a new version of In Search Of for the History Channel.
The mission statement of the new series will be the same as the old: investigate the strange and unusual, and attempt to explain the unexplained. The initial season ordered by History will consist of 10 episodes.
Quinto of course has experience continuing a role originated by Nimoy, having taken over for the late actor as Spock in the J.J. Abrams Star Trek films. With Quinto’s genre pedigree, he seems like the perfect choice to host.
