Deadline is reporting that Shudder, AMC’s all horror/thriller streaming platform, has picked up the exclusive rights to Brandon Christensen’s new psychological horror film Z.

The film centers on a young mother (Keegan Connor Tracy) who comes to fear that her son’s imaginary friend may be all too real and that her family is in terrible danger.

Tracy, who horror fans will remember from films like White Noise and Final Destination 2, is joined by Sean Rogerson (Grave Encounters), Sara Canning (War for the Planet of the Apes), Stephen McHattie (Come to Daddy), Chandra West (White Noise), and Ali Webb (Supernatural). Child actor Jett Klyne who played Brahms in The Boy and more recently guest starred on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina as young Harvey will play Tracy’s son.

Christensen also co-wrote the script with Colin Minihan (It Stains the Sands Red). The two previously collaborated on Still/Born which also had its premiere on Shudder.

Deadline quoted Christensen saying:

“When Still/Born premiered on Shudder on Mother’s Day in 2018, it was clear that they understood what the film was going for and allowed it to shine. With Z, we once again have a film about a tortured mother and father, diving into the psyche of what it’s like to have a child with a mind of their own. I’m thrilled to be teaming with Shudder and once again releasing a film on Mother’s Day, where we can both celebrate and terrify mothers once again.”

Z is set to premiere on Shudder on May 7, 2020, just in time for Mother’s Day.
