As we reported earlier this year, Millenium Films is working on yet another Texas Chainsaw Massacre film, this one set to be a prequel to the original 1974 classic – as well as the recent Texas Chainsaw 3D. Titled Leatherface, the film has just found its titular icon.
According to The Wrap, EastEnders star Sam Strike (below) is in negotiations to play Jackson, the kid who grows up to be Leatherface. The prequel will cover the character’s formative teenage years, set in the 1970s.
This marks yet another name change for Leatherface, who has previously gone by the names Bubba, Thomas and Jed. Further proof that even when new installments of this franchise connect to previous ones, they kinda still don’t. So good luck making sense of it.
Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo, the French filmmakers behind cult hit Inside, are directing the new movie, which was written by up-and-coming genre scribe Seth M. Sherwood.
We should have more on this one real soon.
