The Women in Horror Film Festival has shifted its dates from February 2021 to June 10-12, 2021 at the Strand Theatre on Marietta Square in Atlanta, Georgia.

“It’s very important to maintain the integrity of the fest and the safety of our attendees,” festival co-founder and director Vanessa Wright said in a statement. “With such uncertainty before us, I don’t feel it is responsible to move forward with a live event in February. Part of the magic of this festival is the sense of community and the energy that comes with watching your film with a live audience. We are doing our best to make sure that filmmakers and screenwriters involved with the 2021 event aren’t stripped of that experience.”

The festival joins a host of others who have decided to change dates or move their festivals to an online venue in the wake of Covid-19. Unfortunately some have had to cancel completely.

The move of the festival dates has also prompted Wright to extend their deadline for submissions. Filmmakers and writers will now have until March 31, 2021 to submit films and screenplays to the festival via Film Freeway.

Wright and Hellbent for Horror host S.A. Bradley have, since shortly after the beginning of nationwide lockdowns, been doing weekly Facebook Live broadcasts discussing a variety of topics with a variety of guests. Those events take place every Thursday via the WiHFF Facebook page.
