An unending night at a terrifying hotel plagues a young couple in the terrifying new trailer for The Night set for release later this month.
From the official synopsis featured on Entertainment Weekly this morning:
“An Iranian couple, Babak (award-winning actor Shahab Hosseini) and Neda (Niousha Jafarian), who live in the U.S. with their 1-year-old daughter make the grave mistake of checking in to the Hotel Normandie, an establishment with a creepy night manager, some noisy guests, and a general air of menace. Over the course of the night, Babak and Neda find themselves imprisoned and forced to face the secrets they’ve kept from each other.”
The film, which is being compared to Stanley Kubrick’s version of The Shining, is written by Kourosh Ahari (The Secret of 40) and Milad Jarmooz (Maybe There) with Ahari also serving as director on the film.
The film is slated for release on January 29, 2021.
The trailer wastes no time drawing the audience into its grasp. Babak and Neda are tired and the hotel is conveniently close. Things take a turn quickly, however, and some of the accompanying visuals are downright bone-chilling in their intensity. There’s a reason why hotel horror works. So many people pass through their doors and all of those energies co-mingle creating an air of uncertainty which Ahari appears to have manipulated beautifully.
