The Hunt is very good, you guys. It’s a blast of a film and Betty Gilpin gives it her all in a truly badass performance. Sad, that the film hit theaters just as Coronavirus fears were starting to ramp up. Good news though, social distancing doesn’t mean you have to miss the radness that is The Hunt, it’s coming to video on demand this week.
Universal Pictures decided to release both The Invisible Man and The Hunt on VOD beginning March 20. These titles come with a suggested price of $19.99 and are available for 48-hours after rental.
“Universal Pictures has a broad and diverse range of movies with 2020 being no exception. Rather than delaying these films or releasing them into a challenged distribution landscape, we wanted to provide an option for people to view these titles in the home that is both accessible and affordable,” . We hope and believe that people will still go to the movies in theaters where available, but we understand that for people in different areas of the world that is increasingly becoming less possible.” Said Jeff Shell, CEO of NBCUniversal.
What we have to wonder now is how many titles will begin to go this route and what does that mean for theater chains.
