Lionsgate and EPK.TV has released a new trailer for Antebellum, the upcoming horror thriller starring Janelle Monae.
The film, written and directed by Gerard Bush and Christopher Renz, centers on author Veronica Henley, played by Monae, who “finds herself stuck in a twisted reality after her abusive ex-husband incapacitates her on the way home one night. Desperate to be free of this nightmare, Veronica must navigate the unstable fantasy before her time is up.”
Monae, who also stars in the new season of Amazon’s Homecoming, is joined by Gabourey Sidibe (American Horror Story), Jena Malone (The Neon Demon), Jack Huston (Kill Your Darlings), Eric Lange (Brand New Cherry Flavor), and Kiersey Clemons (Flatliners).
Lionsgate will be in charge of distribution in the USA for the film.
The new trailer gives us just a bit more information about the world in which Henley finds herself, and into the people who might be behind it.
Antebellum was set for release in April 2020, but was postponed after movie theaters were shut down over pandemic concerns. It is now slated to hit theaters on August 21, 2020.
We can’t wait to see this film! Check out that trailer below and let us know what you think in the comments.
