We have less than a month until Netflix’s Fear Street Trilogy debuts, and the streaming platform dropped a brand new trailer today to give us a more in depth glimpse of what new terrors they have in store!
The trilogy of films will release one per week beginning on July 2, 2021 and will take place in 1994, 1978, and 1666. The synopsis for the films reads:
In 1994, a group of teenagers discovers that the terrifying events that have haunted their town for generations may all be connected — and that they may be the next targets. Based on R.L. Stine’s best selling horror series, Fear Street follows the nightmare through Shadyside’s sinister history.
The Fear Street books began publishing in 1989. It was a rather genius move on the part of R.L. Stine, anticipating that his audience was growing up and that they would want books that grew with them. The stakes were higher in these books, and though there were a few deaths in the Goosebumps books, what he presented in Fear Street was much more intense.
The series has sold over 80 million copies worldwide to date and remains, for some horror fans, their gateway into the genre.
The new trailer is certainly intense, presenting a story that jumps through time with terrifying results. Take a look below, and let us know if you’ll be watching Fear Street when it debuts on Netflix on July 9, 2021!
