Lisey’s Story, the new series adaptation of the Stephen King novel, is set to premiere on June 4, 2021 on AppleTV+, and we’ve finally got a full-length trailer to give us a glimpse of what the show has in store!
The series centers on a woman (Julianne Moore) who begins to discover dark secrets about her dead husband’s (Clive Owen) life and career as a writer when she finds herself the object of a stalker’s obsession.
The trailer is filled with intense and fantastic imagery of worlds beyond our own and darkness that surrounds Lisey as these outside forces begin to crack the shell of her reality.
Moore and Owen are joined by an outstanding cast including Joan Allen (A Good Marriage), Jennifer Jason Leigh (Dolores Claiborne), Ron Cephas Jones (This is Us), Dane DeHaan (The Stranger), and Sung Kang (Raya and the Last Dragon).
King, himself, adapted his novel for the series, penning all eight episodes in what is being described as one of the author’s most faithful adaptations. Pablo Larrain (Homemade) directs.
“I was attracted to it because of Stephen, and also because it was something that was so personal to him,” Moore told Entertainment Weekly earlier this week. “One of the things that’s amazing about Stephen and his writing is that he’s able to explore human relationships but in a fantastical way. [This story] was sort of investigating the idea of an adult, mature relationship and a long-term one — a marriage — and what it meant to them personally, the secrets that they shared.”
That humanity is definitely on display in the trailer, and it’s almost impossible to look away from the actress as she falls deeper in to the mystery.
