Perhaps the most exciting thing about Mortal Kombat X, released for next-gen consoles a couple weeks back, is that it features Jason Voorhees as a playable character, bringing the slasher icon into the world of video games for the first time since the 1980s. Bout. Goddamn. Time.

Though the game is out, Jason isn’t available for play until tomorrow, included in a special Kombat Pack that comes with other characters. He can also be purchased separately on May 12th, for those who just want Voorhees and none of the other add-ons – though keep in mind that Predator is also a part of the Kombat Pack.

While we wait, the official Jason Voorhees Mortal Kombat X trailer has just hit the net, providing us with the first actual gameplay footage of the big guy’s Kombat debut. In the minute-long collection of clips, Jason slices up and tears apart a handful of characters, proving that he’s a formidable opponent.

Check out the trailer below, which is sure to be the coolest thing you see this week!

Mortal Kombat X includes a new, original and non-linear storyline “showcasing some of the game’s most prolific characters including Scorpion and Sub-Zero, while introducing new challengers that represent the forces of good and evil and tie the tale together.” The story begins at the end of the previous game and then eventually transitions to twenty-five years into the future, placing emphasis on aged veterans, new characters and the next-generation offspring of the previous fighters.
