Doom

Doom: Annihilation is ripping and tearing its way to a chosen format of entertainment near you. Oct. 1 will see the release of the latest Universal Pictures Home Entertainment’s adaptation of Doom.

The film, which has an all new story, is based on the popular video game series by the same name. In the game you play as the Doom Slayer, Aka Doomguy, aka The Marine who has to battle all the powers of hell using an arsenal of weapons and a whole lot of blood and sweat.

The previous Doom (2005) which starred Dwayne Johnson and Karl Urban, featured an entirely first-person sequence that tried to capture that of the games. For those of you have seen this sequence you know it wasn’t executed exactly perfectly. The film did have a few nice game nods including a boss fight and a wink at the BFG. All in all, the film wasn’t great but I still have to give it kudos for pulling off an ‘R’ rating.

The timing of the release of Annihilation lines up nicely with the much anticipated Doom: Eternal game which drops Nov. 22.

The synopsis for Doom: Annihilation goes like this:

“On the darkest moon of Mars, scientists have found an ancient portal which allows teleportation throughout the universe. Considered to be mankind’s greatest discovery, it’s actually a gateway from hell, unleashing a swarm of demons looking to steal the souls of everyone who gets in their way. It’s up to Lieutenant Joan Dark and an elite unit of Marines to destroy an ever-growing horde of bloodsucking and soul-stealing beasts and prevent them from taking over planet earth.”

People really need to stop opening this gateway to hell, you guys. Sounds cool though. We will have a review for you guys a little closer to release date.

What do you guys think? Excited about visiting a cinematic Doom again?

Doom Annihilation: drops Oct. 1 on Blu Ray, DVD and VOD.
