October Faction, based on the comics by Steve Niles and Damien Worm, is out today on Netflix and if the trailer is any indication, the series should be a hell of a lot of fun.
The series follows elite monster hunters Fred and Deloris Allen (J.C. McKenzie, Tamara Taylor) who, after the death of Fred’s father, return to their hometown in upstate New York along with their teenage children Viv and Geoff (Aurora Burghart and Gabriel Darku).
Home isn’t what it used to be, however, and the family soon finds themselves in the center of something far more sinister than they’ve ever encountered before all while trying to hide what they really do from prying eyes.
The series has a lot of potential based on the source material alone.
Niles’ previous works include Simon Dark, Batman: Gotham County Line, and 30 Days of Night. That last title served as the basis for the brutal 2007 film starring Josh Hartnett (Penny Dreadful), Melissa George (Turistas), and Danny Huston (American Horror Story: Coven).
While the tone in October Faction obviously adds comedy into the horror and science fiction mix of it all, there’s definitely something here for everyone.
