The Thing is unquestionably one of the most groundbreaking and terrifying horror movies of the 1980s. Director John Carpenter gave audiences something they had never quite seen before and the result became a gold standard for science fiction/horror films that remains on many Top 10 lists to this day.
In the film, a US research team in Antarctica finds themselves in the middle of horrifying mystery when they discover a creature that appears to have been burned to death in a neighboring Norwegian research station. Moreover, they discover that everyone in the Norwegian camp is either dead or missing.
Naturally, they take the strange, burned corpse back to their own camp to see what they can discover only to realize far too late that they’ve brought a monster into their midst. The creature is a shapeshifting alien life form who can take on the appearance of its victims and paranoia grows among the researchers as they further realize that any of their number might actually be the monster in disguise.
One of the more famous incarnations of the beast, however, comes when it attacks one of the many dogs at the research station, taking on its form, as well.
The scene is truly terrifying and effective and, as you can see in the video below, even other dogs think so.
Posted on the Rumble Viral video channel on YouTube, the video shows two bulldogs, Elvis and Khaleesi, as they do everything they can to warn the dog in the film of impending danger. It might be just one of the cutest things we’ve ever seen, but it’s also a testament to the power of filmmaking.
