A House on the Bayou is just one of the upcoming films from the collaboration between Epix and Blumhouse, but it’s the first to release a trailer. If this is any indication of what we can expect from the collaboration between these two powerhouses, we’re in a for an intense, terrifying ride.
Written and directed by Alex McAulay, the synopsis for A House on the Bayou reads:
“In an effort to reconnect and mend their relationship, Jessica and John Chambers (Angela Sarafyan, Paul Schneider) seek an idyllic getaway with their daughter Anna (Lia McHugh) to a remote mansion in rural Louisiana. When suspiciously friendly neighbors show up for dinner uninvited, the weekend takes a sinister turn as the fragile family bond is tested and dark secrets come to light.”
The trailer for the film takes no time at all to set an incredibly dark mood, inviting us onto the bayou with this family of outsiders. As John and Anna finish up shopping the store owner writes “The Devil is Watching You” on their receipt. Soon the man and his seriously unsettling son show up at the mansion and things take a horrifying turn.
The film looks like Funny Games meets The Reaping and we’re here for all of it.
Check out the trailer below and look for it on Epix on November 19, 2021!
