So, how about that Walking Dead midseason finale? That ending twist was one almost no one saw coming, and it promises to carry ramifications for the rest of the series, especially for Rick Grimes. It also managed to anger a lot of fans, who are now petitioning for showrunner Scott Gimple to be fired.
Whatever you thought of the midseason finale, it’s hard to deny that it makes you want to see what happens next, if only out of morbid curiosity. A lot of people seem to be giving up on The Walking Dead this season – judging by the ratings – but personally, the show is still fine by me. Still, different strokes for different folks and all that.
For those anticipating the return of The Walking Dead to AMC, the network has released an official teaser for the second half of season 8, and announced a premiere date of February 25th. Check out the teaser below.
Sporting the tagline “The Last Stand Begins,” the teaser promises lots of action and excitement, which hopefully TWD manages to deliver on. As much as I still enjoy the show overall, one thing I can’t entirely disagree with detractors on is how glacially-paced some episodes are.
If the tagline is accurate, one hopes season 8 will see the end of the war between Rick’s group and Negan’s Saviors, but it’s unclear if that will actually happen. Many have argued that the fight against the Governor was drawn out too long, and those same complaints are already being lodged about the fight against Negan. I might agree with that stance, were Jeffrey Dean Morgan not so pitch perfect in the villainous role.
