What We Can Expect from Tonight’s Mid-Season Premiere of The Walking Dead!

Published

on

I must admit, I am a HUGE fan of the TV series ‘The Walking Dead’. Tonight is the mid-season premier on AMC at 9 PM EST. As a father of a 13 year old daughter who is at that age where spending time with parents is not their first priority, it is very welcoming when she comes and finds me on Sunday nights right as the show it to start and says “Come on Daddy, it’s time for the show”. We then prepare a special snack (whatever she wants at the time) and we about 15 minutes after airtime we begin watching it on the DVR (to skip the lame commercials).

TWD Season 5 mid season premier

Tonight’s episode (5.09) titled: “What happened and what’s going on” should be a great one! According to AMC the second half of this season is expected to be one of the very best yet. Seasons 1-3 were fantastic. Anything involving The Governor was awesome. However, much of what has happened the last season and a half seems to be leading up to something bigger. I hope that means we will soon meet Lucille! (And Negan for that matter).

Negan & Lucille

Robert Kirkman has dropped several hints that we would be meeting one or two “new characters” this season. He also has stated that even-though the show is loosely based on the comic book series, the path the story line is currently on seemed about right for leading towards on introduction to Negan. According to ‘The Rolling Stone’ magazine. Tonight’s mid-season premier will be done in a style different from what we have been used to. Also, that there may possibly be a death of at least one major character. In the 2 minute sneak peak (spoiler alert) we see the funeral for Beth followed by images of past places they have lived. We then learn they want to honor Beth by completing her mission of taking Noah back to Richmond, VA where he lived in a secure community with walls, homes and at least 20 people.

Kirkman has also hinted that there will be a big change in the story line during the second half of this season. In an interview on ‘The Talking Dead’ Kirkman stated they would be introducing “a very prominent gay character from the comics”. Rumor has it that we will soon be meeting a character that is a combination of ‘Paul Monroe’ aka Jesus’ and ‘Aaron’. If this is true, it does seem like Lucille & Negan are just around the corner. As I look back on past seasons, Shane and The Governor were by far the best villians so far. Both came close to killing Rick at one point. However, other villains like the group from Terminus and the Claimers seemed to be too easy for Rick and team. I am very optimistic that the second half of the season will turn out to be worth all the hype. Hopefully, we will get to meet Negan soon. Maybe he can give Rick “Something to fear!“.

So, with just about 6 hours to go, and after about 2 days of non-stop ‘The Walking Dead’ marathon watching, I am very excited to hear my daughter’s sweet voice say “Come on Daddy, it’s time for the show!” So make sure you have your snacks prepared and get ready to enjoy.

Jake Gyllenhaal’s Thriller ‘Presumed Innocent’ Series Gets Early Release Date

Published

on

Jake gyllenhaal presumed innocent

Jake Gyllenhaal’s limited series Presumed Innocent is dropping on AppleTV+ on June 12 instead of June 14 as originally planned. The star, whose Road House reboot has brought mixed reviews on Amazon Prime, is embracing the small screen for the first time since his appearance on Homicide: Life on the Street in 1994.

Jake Gyllenhaal’s in ‘Presumed Innocent’

Presumed Innocent is being produced by David E. Kelley, J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot, and Warner Bros. It is an adaptation of Scott Turow’s 1990 film in which Harrison Ford plays a lawyer doing double duty as an investigator looking for the murderer of his colleague.

These types of sexy thrillers were popular in the ’90s and usually contained twist endings. Here’s the trailer for the original:

According to Deadline, Presumed Innocent doesn’t stray far from the source material: “…the Presumed Innocent series will explore obsession, sex, politics and the power and limits of love as the accused fights to hold his family and marriage together.”

Up next for Gyllenhaal is the Guy Ritchie action movie titled In the Grey scheduled for release in January 2025.

Presumed Innocent is an eight-episode limited series set to stream on AppleTV+ starting June 12.

Trailer for ‘The Exorcism’ Has Russell Crowe Possessed

Published

on

The latest exorcism movie is about to drop this summer. It’s aptly titled The Exorcism and it stars Academy Award winner turned B-movie savant Russell Crowe. The trailer dropped today and by the looks of it, we are getting a possession movie that takes place on a movie set.

Just like this year’s recent demon-in-media-space film Late Night With the Devil, The Exorcism happens during a production. Although the former takes place on a live network talk show, the latter is on an active sound stage. Hopefully, it won’t be entirely serious and we’ll get some meta chuckles out of it.

The film will open in theaters on June 7, but since Shudder also acquired it, it probably won’t be long after that until it finds a home on the streaming service.

Crowe plays, “Anthony Miller, a troubled actor who begins to unravel while shooting a supernatural horror film. His estranged daughter, Lee (Ryan Simpkins), wonders if he’s slipping back into his past addictions or if there’s something more sinister at play. The film also stars Sam Worthington, Chloe Bailey, Adam Goldberg and David Hyde Pierce.”

Crowe did see some success in last year’s The Pope’s Exorcist mostly because his character was so over-the-top and infused with such comical hubris it bordered on parody. We will see if that is the route actor-turned-director Joshua John Miller takes with The Exorcism.
