Can you believe AMC’s The Walking Dead has been on TV for almost an entire decade now? I can’t, as it really doesn’t seem like that long ago I was watching the pilot, which was an amazing zombie movie in and of itself.

Now obviously, The Walking Dead has seen better days. The currently airing season 9 has already seen two major characters exit, as Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Maggie (Lauren Cohan) were both written out of the series.

Still, AMC has no plans to end The Walking Dead anytime soon, renewing it for season 10 the other day. That announcement was no surprise, as it’s well known that AMC intends to keep TWD going for at least another decade.

What fans didn’t necessarily see coming is an announcement that came on the renewal’s heels. As reported by THR, Dania Gurira, who’s played sword-wielding badass Michonne since season 3, is set to depart the cast soon.

Michonne’s exit will take place during season 10, as she’s signed a deal to return for a limited number of episodes, just as Lincoln and Cohan did before season 9. The Walking Dead’s heaviest hitters are dropping like flies.

However, this might not be the last of Michonne that Walking Dead fans see. THR’s report suggests that Gurira might reprise the character during the series of Walking Dead TV movies set to be led by Lincoln’s Rick Grimes.
