One of last year’s best TV shows, perhaps the best, was HBO’s True Detective, which centered on the investigation into a series of occult killings. While director Cary Fukunaga is off making a new adaptation of Stephen King’s It, writer Nic Pizzolatto returns to True Detective Season 2, which got a new trailer today.
Of course, one of the things that made the show’s debut season so good was the cast, headed by Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey. This time around, Vince Vaughn, Colin Farrell, and Rachel McAdams are the headlining stars, as the second season will tell an entirely new story.
When police officer and war veteran Paul Woodrugh (Taylor Kitsch) discovers a crime scene in True Detective Season 2, it attracts detectives Ani Bezzerides (Rachel McAdams) and Ray Velcoro (Colin Farrell) to the investigation. Also involved is Frank Semyon (Vince Vaughn), a career criminal and entrepreneur, who is married to Jordan (Kelly Reilly).
Check out the two trailers for the season below, which premieres June 21st on HBO.
