Vince Vaughn (Wedding Crashers) and Kathryn Newton (Big Little Lies) are in talks to star in a brand new horror comedy from Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day) and Michael Kennedy (Attack of the Queerwolf). Blumhouse will produce the project.
Few details have been released but according to Variety, the film concerns a teenage girl who accidentally switches bodies with a serial killer and has 24 hours to reverse the switch before being permanently stuck in his body.
We’re presuming this means that Vaughn, who’s spent the last several years concentrating on more serious roles, will spend a majority of this film playing his role from the perspective of a teenage girl while Newton will take on the persona of a 6’5″ murdering sociopath.
It sounds a bit like Freaky Friday meets American Psycho and we’re totally down for that!
This is Kennedy’s first feature, but he’s in good hands collaborating with Landon. The writer/director has been in this business for a while with credits like Paranormal Activity 2, the Happy Death Day franchise, and Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse under his belt to name just a few.
Blumhouse has become a powerhouse in genre filmmaking working on everything from Insidious to the new Halloween entries to Paranormal Activity to the aforementioned Happy Death Day, and this film seems like a perfect fit for their studio.
iHorror will certainly have our eyes peeled for all the details on this new Blumhouse project and will keep our readers posted as they become available.
