Riddick

Vin Diesel will once again go hunting in the dark as Riddick in the next chapter of theĀ  saga. This time around he is headed back to his home planet of Furya.

Director, David Twohy will return to helm the saga he has driven since 2000’s Pitch Black. Fans will recall that Riddick’s adventures began with the Alien homage, Pitch Black. The film saw Riddick being transferred on a prison ship, before crash landing on a planet completely inhabited by nocturnal monsters.

Pitch Black eventually lead to, 2004’s The Chronicles of Riddick and 2013’s Riddick. Each film expanded on the mythos of Twohy and Diesel’s world. The franchise also saw, animated features, video games and comic books all based around the titular anti-hero.

I was a huge fan of Pitch Black on release and the video game Escape From Butcher’s Bay was groundbreaking. The other two films in the franchise have been met with both good and bad criticism. ‘Chronicles’ in particular was met with negative outpouring, while ‘Riddick’ saw a close blueprint to that of Pitch Black and was mostly a success.

I’m excited to get back into this world, and it’s pretty cool to see that Twohy and Diesel are clearly still revisiting this world for the fans.

Riddick 4: Furya is set to begin shooting in 2020.
