Universal and Blumhouse are Getting ‘Freaky’ this November

by Waylon Jordan

Universal is set to release Blumhouse’s Freaky in theaters on Friday, November 13, 2020.

The dark horror comedy is co-written and directed by Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day), and stars Vince Vaughn (True Detective) and Kathryn Newton (Big Little Lies).

High schooler Mille (Newton) finds herself in big trouble after an infamous killer called The Butcher (Vaughn) accidentally switches bodies with her. She soon learns she has only 24 hours to switch back or else she will be permanently locked in the killer’s body.

There’s only one problem, really. Millie looks like a hulking serial killer wanted by the police, and The Butcher has decided to take his killing game to Homecoming.

The film also stars Celeste O’Connor (Ghostbusters: Afterlife) and Misha Oshervich (The Goldfinch) as Millie’s two friends who find themselves caught in the middle of one seriously bloody battle.

It’s a new twist on the Freaky Friday story we’ve seen a million times, but this time it has real bite and the right person in the director’s chair. Landon is particularly talented at walking the line between horror and comedy. His Happy Death Day movies are prime examples of that and there’s little doubt this film has the potential to go to some really interesting places.

You can watch the trailer for Freaky below, and let us know what you think down in the comments.
