‘Triggered’ Gives the PC Police a Timely Slasher

by Timothy Rawles

In this highly energized political age, almost anything can be offensive but is it worth killing over?

From what we can tell from the trailer below, this is one aspect of Chris Moore’s hyper-aware Triggered which is currently making its way around the festival circuit. Moore’s previous film Blessed Are the Children also dealt with a single hot-button issue; abortion.

But this time around it appears any type of political incorrectness could get you killed, or at least publically shamed by Callee Bishop who thinks using chopsticks as a hair accessory is appropriation. She meins well.

Callee, who is trying to get her whole town woke, is suddenly no longer the focus of attention until she creates a situation a la Scream that captures the awareness of a real-life killer.

Here is the official synopsis:

Callee has a lot of issues. Besides the fact that her town is full of braindead bigots, there’s a serial killer on the loose and, now, no one’s taking her problems seriously.

With the help of her friend, Ian, Callee devises a plan to get the attention back on her and her issues by faking an attack from the killer. Callee’s plan backfires when the real killer sets their sights on the two friends in an effort to make them the victims they’ve been claiming to be.

How can Callee and Ian find their way out of their web of lies before the killer claims them as yet another one of their many victims?

Amanda Wyss from A Nightmare on Elm Street stars in this buzz-word heavy comedy slasher.

Triggered will get a DVD release early in 2019.
