According to news over on Soompi, the sequel to 2016’s Korean zombie film, Train to Busan is on its way in 2020.

Earlier in the year, we reported that a sequel was indeed on its way but now it appears that the release date is set for Aug. 12, 2020. This according to director, Yeon Sang Ho himself.

That report seems to be going against what the distributor is currently stating though. When asked about the above listed release date, the distributor said that it is aiming for a Summer 2020 release but doesn’t have a solid release at this time.

Perhaps, Ho spoke out of turn but either way, at least these two reports give us a time as to when we can expect the sequel.

Both Train to Busan and it’s animated prequel Seoul Station were game changers in an otherwise tired sub genre. Both films focused on not only the horrors of a zombie apocalypse, but also the stark terror of class warfare.

Train to Busan was seriously an achievement in the world of zombies. It came at a time when AMC’s The Walking Dead had killed zombies with boredom and predictability. As long as the same creativity and care goes into the sequel, it has the potential to once again blow minds.

If you haven’t seen Train to Busan yet, seriously do me a huge favor and go give it a watch, you won’t regret it.
