Directed by Timothy Woodward Jr (Traded) and written by Jeffrey Reddick (writer/creator of Final Destination) – who co-wrote the screenplay with William Halfon and Jonathan Doyle – The Final Wish premiered at Screamfest Horror Film Festival in October and currently has consistently positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes in advance of its theatrical release on January 24, 2019.
“With the unexpected passing of his father, Aaron tries to come to terms with his grief while supporting his devastated mother. Sifting through his father’s belongings, Aaron comes upon an Urn that is far more than it seems. As his wants and wishes start coming true, Aaron thinks his prayers have been answered until he realizes the price of this good fortune is much more than he bargained for.”
The legendary Lin Shaye (Insidious) flexes her full emotional range as a grieving mother. Michael Welch (Z Nation) plays her son, Aaron, with horror icon Tony Todd (Candyman) to warn him of what he’s unleashed.
The Final Wish also stars Michael Welch, Z Nation), Spencer Locke (Insidious: The Last Key), Melissa Bolona (Acts of Violence), and Jean Elie (Insecure, The Eric Andre Show) in his feature film debut.
I recently spoke with Elie about the project. As a horror fan himself, he was very excited to make the transition to silver-screen screams, and is looking forward to audience reactions.
“I think the audience will leave with a stimulating understanding of the power in choice, while enjoying how life plays out for our lead character,” he said. “there’s the mentality of ‘better him than me!'”
