Tom Hardy as Venom. Excuse me while I go change my Spidey undies.
What started out as a replacement costume for Spider-Man, turned into one of Marvel’s greatest nightmares and one of the most popular characters in the comic universe, is FINALLY getting his own movie; one that fans have been anticipated for as long as the Symbiote’s vengeful tongue of horror. And we have a release date as well! It really is a grand day for Marvel heads everywhere.
With Spiderman: Homecoming‘s release a mere two months away from its theatrical release, Sony Pictures is eager to get the ball rolling in expanding the Spidey-Verse, and that begins with Peter Parkers most admirable slimy foe, Venom. Sony’s Twitter made the announcement this morning proudly proclaiming Tom Hardy is jumping from the DC movie-verse, kicking off his Bane boots and slipping into the black goo’d supervillain, but more recently portrayed as an anti-hero in the comics, Eddie Brock/Venom.

With Zombieland‘s director Ruben Fleischer to helm the directorial reigns on the new Venom film that is scheduled out late next year, and Scott Rosenberg (Jumanji) and Jeff Pinkner (The Dark Tower) writing the script, the anxieties of us all can finally settle down as the Venom film has found its hosts in the cast and crew. Shooting is slated for Fall of 2017. while Venom will have a theatrical release on October 5, 2018.
