In a pairing that would make more sense than peanut butter and jelly or donuts and coffee, Tim Burton is reported to be getting The Addams Family going for live action series.
The series is reported to be set in the modern times and be told through Wednesday Addams perspective. I could only imagine how many things would frustrate her in the modern age considering… but I digress.
This iteration of The Addams Family would be a live action series that would have Burton executive producing and possibly directing all episodes. Both Alfred Gough and Miles Millar of Smallville fame would be writing and showrunning with Burton.
We have seen a whole bunch of adaptations of Charles Addams’ original TV series over the years. Most recently an animated film brought us back in touch with a very different Addams fam than we are used to. Most notably (and my personal favorite) Addams Family and Addams Family Values by Barry Sonnenfeld made a large quality mark on the franchise name.
MGM TV has financed the series and is looking for a home that Netflix is reportedly leading the race in.
Tim Burton and the Addams Family feels like a no brainer, right? His gothic blend of soaps and the sixties are a great fit for this sort of thing.
