Hey Tightwads! It’s Tuesday again! Are you ready for this batch of free movies from Tightwad Terror Tuesday and iHorror? Batter up…
The ABCs of Death
The ABCs of Death is a clever little 2012 anthology that uses the concept of the alphabet as its backbone. Each story is inspired by a different letter, from A to Z.
Obviously, there are 26 segments to the movie, some of which are directed by notable horror filmmakers like Ben Wheatley, Adam Wingard, Nacho Vigalondo, Jason Eisener, Angela Bettis, and Ti West (although West’s “M is for Miscarriage” is a complete phone-in). The highlight is Marcel Sarmiento’s “D is for Dogfight.” Sift through The ABCs of Death here at Vudu.
Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2
It goes without saying that Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 is the follow-up to the immensely popular and highly influential found-footage film The Blair Witch Project. The plot concerns a group of tourists who take “The Blair Witch Hunt,” a guided journey into the woods where The Blair Witch Project was shot. While checking out the various locations that were seen in the first film, the group encounters a lot of strange, spooky stuff.
Released just a short year after the first film in 2000, Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 is more of a sequel to the hype that surrounded the original movie than it is to the movie itself. This much maligned movie gets a bad rap because it’s pretty different from the first film, but as a standalone, it’s a really solid flick. See it for yourself here at TubiTV.
Here Comes the Devil
Here Comes the Devil is about a married couple who takes their kids on vacation to visit some Mexican caves. The kids disappear, and the parents are justifiably upset, but the kids come back just as quickly as they left. But something about them has changed.
Written and directed by Adrian Garcia Bogliano in 2012, Here Comes the Devil is a bleak and disturbing affair. It’s a bit curiously titled, but worth a watch nonetheless. Check it out here at Crackle.
Lovely Molly is a 2011 movie about a pair of newlyweds who moves into a house left to the bride by her deceased parents. Once there, the woman is haunted by terrible visions which make her fall back into the destructive behaviors of her past.
Speaking of The Blair Witch Project from two entries up, Lovely Molly was directed by Blair Witch co-creator Eduardo Sanchez. It’s a creepy little flick that stars Gretchen Lodge as the titular Molly, Johnny Lewis as her husband, and Alexandra Holden as her sister. Catch Lovely Molly right here at TubiTV.
Jackals is about a family that hires a deprogrammer to help them get their son back from a dangerous cult. They kidnap the son and take him to a secluded cabin for the deprogramming, but soon find themselves in hot water when the cultists come looking for the boy.
Made in 2017, Jackals is a creepy siege movie, sort of a cross between Assault on Precinct 13 and You’re Next. It’s a tight, economical little fright flick with absolutely no fat on the bones. Stephen Dorff stars as the deprogrammer. Have a look at Jackals here at Peacock.
