Hey Tightwads! Another batch of free movies is ready for you. The question is…are you ready for them?
Jaws is an absolute classic about a beachside community that is terrorized by a bloodthirsty great white shark. The local chief of police teams up with a marine biologist and a shark hunter to try and take down the beast that is costing the town its summer tourism revenue.
Made by a fresh young Steven Spielberg in 1975, Jaws is the definition of a summer blockbuster. And it still holds up today, Sure, it’s a rubber shark, but it’s a terrifying rubber shark. Roy Scheider, Richard Dreyfus, and Robert Shaw share the spotlight in the lead roles. If you haven’t seen Jaws, you’re messing up. Remedy that here at TubiTV.
Everly is a 2014 movie about a woman who is held prisoner by a yakuza boss and his henchmen. She fights back against her captors, so they decide to go after her mother and daughter.
Mostly taking place in one room, Everly is a fresh contained thriller. This adrenaline-fueled romp was directed by Joe Lynch and star Salma Hayek in the title role. Get a dose of Everly here at Vudu.
Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark
Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is about a group of teenagers that winds up in a supposedly haunted mansion on Halloween where they find an old book of stories. As they read through them, the stories start to come true…and are affecting the kids and the people they know.
This 2019 fright fest was based on the popular – and horrifying – children’s book series of the same name. The stories that come to life are, more or less, straight out of it. Which makes the movie kind of horrifying, too. Check out Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark here at TubiTV.
Not to be confused with the 1987 giallo or the 1950 Hitchcock joint, Stage Fright is a 2014 movie about a beloved singer who is unceremoniously murdered backstage after a performance of “The Haunting of the Opera.” Years later, her children go to a musical theater camp that plans on performing the same show. What could possibly go wrong? Well, a kabuki mask-wearing lunatic killer could start murdering the campers for starters.
Stage Fright is a clever and unique little slasher. It’s also extremely self-referential, although it manages to crib from golden age slashers without imitating them. It’s also, of course, a musical, and the cast is led by Minnie Driver and Meat Loaf. Sing along with Stage Fright right here at Crackle.
The Nightmare, or Der Nachtmahr as it is known in its native Germany, is about a young club kid who, after one strange night of partying, finds herself haunted by a little creature in her room. Is the small thing friendly, or does it have a sinister motive for following her around?
Obviously, this 2015 movie is a weird one. It’s definitely not the other 2015 The Nightmare documentary about sleep paralysis. It’s about as creative as creature features get, though, so if that’s your bag, catch The Nightmare here at Midnight Pulp.
