Hey Tightwads! How are you doing with the state of the world today? Here’s another batch of free movies from iHorror and Tightwad Terror Tuesday to help ease your boredom.
With most (if not all) of the country locked down, it’s as good of a time as any to check out Quarantine. It’s about a television news team that is following a fire crew around on the night shift. They respond to a call at an apartment building, but while they are attending to the victim, the complex is quarantined, and both the fire and news crews become trapped inside with unspeakable evil.
This 2008 found footage flick is a remake of the 2007 Spanish thriller REC. While REC is the superior movie, Quarantine stills packs a punch. It’s one of the better found footage movies of the 21st century. Check it out here at Crackle.
Dark Skies is a 2013 sci-fi horror movie about a typical suburban family that lives in a typical suburban neighborhood. After a series of strange occurrences, the family starts thinking that they may be the target of something sinister. And that something sinister may come from beyond the stars…
As far as alien abduction movies go, Dark Skies is, well, one of them. It’s well made, but nothing that hasn’t been done before. The cast includes Keri Russell, Josh Hamilton, and J.K. Simmons, so it’s got that going for it. Catch Dark Skies here at Vudu.
Pay the Ghost
Pay the Ghost is about a man whose young son disappears during a Halloween carnival. A year later, the man begins having horrifying visions that may lead him to his missing child. But they also may unravel a mystery that is better off left unsolved.
Nicolas Cage takes the lead in this 2015 combination ghost story/crime thriller. It’s a more restrained Cage, but Cage nonetheless. Have a look at Pay the Ghost here at TubiTV.
Night Hunter is about a vampire hunter who is descended from a long ancestral line of vampire hunters. As he is just about to render the Vampire extinct, his assassinations attract the attention of a reporter, who decides to help him eradicate the species. But the clock is ticking, as a solar eclipse which allows the vampires to reproduce is coming up.
This 1996 action horror movie is awesomely fun. The vampire hunter is played by Don “The Dragon” Wilson, so he fights his foes with lots of martial arts as well as heavy firepower. Yes, this movie is kung-fu versus bloodsuckers. You can find Night Hunter here at Shout Factory TV.
For those of you who may be locked down with kids, we’re closing this week out with Monster Trucks. This 2019 movie is about a junkyard worker who befriends a slug-like creature that feeds on oil. Of course, the local oil company is trying to find the creature, too, and they’re not quite as friendly.
Monster Trucks is a silly movie, but it will work for both kids and adults. It’s also become a bit of an internet meme. The top-tier cast includes Lucas Till, Jane Levy, Rob Lowe, Danny Glover, Amy Ryan, and Samara Weaving. See Monster Trucks here at Popcornflix.
