Hey Tightwads! Has the coronavirus got you down, or are you enjoying your self-quarantine? Maybe these free movies will help you kill the time…
Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation
Years ago, Tightwad Terror Tuesday brought you Starship Troopers. But did you know that there were four other Starship Troopers movies? And Crackle has them all. Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation is about a platoon of troopers who are hiding out in an abandoned base after fighting off the alien bugs. But their fighting days are far from over.
Without Paul Verhoeven or Casper Van Dien, this 2004 sequel isn’t nearly as good as the original. But since when did quality count for anything in the Starship Troopers universe? Check out Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation here at Crackle, and then check out 2008’s Starship Troopers 3: Marauder (which does have Dien) here, 2012’s animated Starship Troopers: Invasion here, and 2017’s animated Starship Troopers: Traitor of Mars here, all also at Crackle.
Remember the two convenience store clerks in Kevin Smith’s Tusk? They’ve got their own movie called Yoga Hosers. This 2016 comedy features the two girls taking time away from doing yoga and browsing social media to fight an ancient and otherworldly evil monster.
And it’s just as silly as it sounds, but that’s a huge part of it’s charm. Lily-Rose Depp and Harley Quinn Smith, daughters of Johnny Depp and Kevin Smith respectively, reprise their roles from Tusk, and they’re a hoot, both together and separately. Keep your eyes peeled for both of their dads, as well as Justin Long, Natasha Lyonne, Haley Joel Osment, and Adam Brody rounding out the cast. Have some fun with Yoga Hosers here at TubiTV.
Luz is about a young cab driver who seeks the help of the police to get away from an obsessed stalker. Only the obsessed stalker is possessed by an evil entity who will stop at nothing to be with the woman it loves – the cab driver.
This German movie is a creepy variation on the possession motif. It’s also one of the most talked about movies of 2018 that hardly anyone saw. And you can see it here at Popcornflix.
M.O.M. Mothers of Monsters
M.O.M. Mothers of Monsters is a 2020 movie about a mother who suspects her son is planning a school shooting. She snoops around and confirms her fears, but finds herself stuck between her love for her child and the ability to do the right thing.
This eerie little indie thriller seems ripped from today’s headlines. It’s a brutally disturbing watch. It also stars Ed Asner. Catch M.O.M. Mothers of Monsters here at TubiTV.
The Rake is about a pair of siblings whose parents were killed by a supernatural force known as The Rake. Twenty years later, the kids have to confront their parents’ killer and find a way to exact their revenge.
This 2018 movie is based on a creepypasta urban legend. It’s a quick watch, and an entertaining way to kill an hour and twenty minutes. You can find The Rake here at Vudu.
