Hey Tightwads! Are you keeping virus-free? If you’re in a self-imposed quarantine, maybe this batch of free movies can help you kill the time.
ABCs of Death 2
A long while back, Tightwad Terror Tuesday brought you The ABCs of Death. This week, we’ve got the sequel, ABCs of Death 2. The concept is the same; it’s an anthology of 26 short segments, each dealing with a different letter of the alphabet.
The list of directors on this 2014 includes names like Larry Fessenden, Rodney Ascher, E.L. Katz, and the Soska Sisters. It’s a more consistent set than its predecessor, with nothing as good as “D is for Dogfight” but nothing quite as pointless as “M is for Miscarriage.” Count down the ABCs of Death 2 here at Popcornflix.
Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead
And speaking of 2014 sequels…Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead is about a man who is on the run from a gang of Nazi zombies. He finds help in some unlikely allies: a group of American zombie experts who share their knowledge with him.
Dead Snow 2 picks up right where Dead Snow left off. It’s gruesome and gory, and it takes place in the snow (hence the name), so it’s not just your average zombie flick. Vegar Hoel returns in the lead role, and the support cast includes Ingrid Haas, Jocelyn DeBoer, and Derek Mears. Check out Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead here at Vudu.
Also from 2014, Spring is about a young American man who takes off to Italy in order to escape the problems of his life. He meets a young woman, and things seem to be going well with their blossoming romance. Well, at least, until he learns of her dark secret.
A morbid romance, Spring is one of those slow-burn, meditative movies that has just enough creepy scenes sprinkled throughout to keep the viewer from losing interest. This beautiful movie was written and directed by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, the same guys behind Resolution and The Endless. Catch Spring here at TubiTV.
Candy Stripers is about a handful of different people who find themselves in the same hospital with their respective injuries. One of them, however, has been infected by an alien, and the being spreads itself throughout the facility by taking over all of the doctors, nurses, patients, and candy stripers.
This 2006 movie is classic exploitation science fiction. It’s packed with hot girls, but still manages to be an engaging little fright flick. Have a look at Candy Stripers here at Crackle.
Island Zero is a 2018 movie about an isolated island fishing community whose only contact with the outside world comes in the form of a ferry from the mainland. When the ferry stops coming, some of the residents set sail for the mainland in their own boats – and don’t return. To make matters worse, the islanders start disappearing, and the survivors realize that they are being hunted by someone – or something.
A cool little contained thriller, Island Zero plays upon the classic fears of seclusion. It’s a fun way to kill an hour and forty minutes. Find Island Zero here at TubiTV.
