Annabelle: Creation (2017), courtesy Warner Bros.

Annabelle: Creation

The second (and arguably best) movie in the Annabelle sub-franchise of the Conjuring-verse, Annabelle: Creation deals with the origin of the cursed doll.  The movie is about a group of orphan girls who, along with their nun guardian, are welcomed into the home of a toymaker and his wife who lost their daughter a few years earlier.  Of course, there’s a creepy doll in the dead girl’s old room.

This 2017 prequel is a suspenseful and spooky little fright flick.  It was written by Gary Dauberman and directed by David F. Sandberg, and the cast includes Anthony LaPaglia, Miranda Otto, Lulu Wilson, Talitha Bateman, and Grace Fulton, with composer Joseph Bishara once again appearing onscreen as a demon.  Check out Annabelle: Creation here at TubiTV.

Final Destination (2000), courtesy New Line Cinema.

Final Destination

Final Destination is a classic 2000 movie about a group of high school kids that escapes death when one of them has a premonition and they all get off of a place that crashes.  They quickly learn that death doesn’t like to be cheated, and they begin to die in mysterious and inexplicable ways.

The Final Destination movies have become horror staples.  They’re all pretty much the same plot, but the ways in which the victims die are legendarily creative.  The whole series should be considered essential viewing, so if you haven’t indulged yet, what are you waiting for?  Final Destination can be found here at Vudu, and if you’re still hankering for more, the next three movies are there, too.  Watch Final Destination 2 here, Final Destination 3 here, and The Final Destination (the fourth movie) here.

Oculus (2013), courtesy Blumhouse Productions.

Oculus is about a young man who murdered his father after the man killed his mother.  He was sentenced to a mental hospital, and upon his release, his sister brings him home.  But their troubles are not over there; the sister reveals that in order to break their family curse, they have to destroy an antique mirror that was responsible for their father’s madness.  But the mirror has other ideas.

Although it’s his second movie, this 2013 offering introduced the world to horror master Mike Flanagan.  The cast includes Karen Gillan, Brenton Thwaites, Katee Sackhoff, and Rory Cochrane.  Oculus is one of the creepier movies of the 21st century, and you can find it here at TubiTV.

Redrum (2007), courtesy First Look.

Redrum is a 2007 horror comedy about a man who accidentally kills another person.  He confesses his crime to his wife, and the pair decides to make murder a part of their humdrum marriage.

More comedy than horror, Redrum was written and directed by its leading man, Kenny Young.  Don’t let the stereotypical title fool you (there are at least 2 other movies that share the name), it’s a creative and funny little flick.  Laugh along with Redrum here at Crackle.

Christina’s House (2000), courtesy MGM Home Entertainment.

Christina’s House

Christina’s House is about a teenager (named Christina – so it’s not just a clever name) who moves into a new house with her father and younger brother.  Almost immediately, Christina starts getting the feeling that someone else in in the house with them, but her father dismisses her concerns.  When local teens start disappearing, Christina really starts to get paranoid.

This 2000 thriller takes itself too seriously at times, but it’s a fun variation on the teenage “haunted” house motif.  If clever mysteries are your thing, catch Christina’s House here at Vudu.
