Hey Tightwads! Ready for another batch of free movies? Good, because here they are…
Cloverfield is a 2008 movie about a young man who, along with a group of his friends, travels from one side of New York City to the other to reach his girlfriend during some sort of alien monster attack. Oh, and his friends videotape the whole thing.
While not exactly as believable as, say, The Blair Witch Project, Cloverfield is one of the best found-footage movies in the history of the trend. And it’s a fun take on the Kaiju movie as well. The hip cast includes Lizzy Caplain, Theo Rossi, and T.J. Miller. Check out Cloverfield here at TubiTV.
Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II
Tightwad Terror Tuesday has brought you both the original Prom Night its remake, but none of the sequels. Until now. Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II is about a high school girl who gets possessed by the spirit of a dead Prom Queen from thirty years before. The Prom Queen is back for revenge, and the now-principal of the school, who had something to do with her demise, is her target.
Made in 1987, Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II seems like more of a sequel to Carrie than it does to Prom Night, but that’s okay. It’s a cool standalone flick. Michael Ironside stars as the principal. Have a look at Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II here at Popcornflix.
John Dies at the End
John Dies at the End is about a hip new drug called Soy Sauce that sends its user to another dimension – literally. Unfortunately, they come back…different. A pair of slackers are tasked with saving the world from the evil drug. And the title may or may not be a spoiler.
This 2012 sci-fi/horror/comedy was written and directed by Don Coscarelli and based on a novel by Cracked.com writer David Wong. It’s a crazy diversion that is just as weird as it sounds. The lead roles are played by Chase Williamson and Rob Mayes, and viewers will also recognize faces like Angus Scrimm, Doug Jones, Paul Giamatti, and Clancy Brown in the cast. Dip into John Dies at the End here at Vudu.
And speaking of Angus Scrimm…over the years, Tightwad Terror Tuesday has also brought you some entries into the Phantasm franchise, and now we’ve got the final (so far) movie, 2016’s Phantasm: Ravager. This time, we find our hero Reggie wandering the desert searching for his friend Mike and vowing revenge on The Tall Man.
Phantasm: Ravager is even more of a head trip that the other Phantasm movies. Reggie Bannister is back as Reggie, as are A. Michael Baldwin as Mike and (thankfully) Angus Scrimm as The Tall Man. The balls are back, too, and bigger than ever. You can find Phantasm: Ravager here at Crackle.
Not to be confused with the Disney animated feature of the same name, Frozen is about two snowboarders and a skier who get stuck on a chairlift as the resort closes for the week. A whole week. On a ski lift. In the snow.
This 2010 movie is a masterclass of contained suspense. It takes one of those “that could never happen” situations and makes it happen. Emma Bell, Shawn Ashmore, and Kevin Zegers play the three hapless winter sports enthusiasts. Catch Frozen right here at TubiTV.
