What’s happening, Tightwads?  Ready for this week’s batch of free movies?  Let’s roll…

Tightwad Terror Tuesday – Free Movies for 1-21-20

Prey (2019), courtesy Blumhouse Productions.

Prey is a 2019 fright flick about a troubled young man who is sent to a deserted island to survive on his own as a sort of a “therapy session.”  He comes across a young woman who unexpectedly lives on the island.  As the pair grows close, the boy realizes that the girl is not the only company that he has on the island.

Prey is essentially a creature feature disguised as a survival thriller.  It’s got a PG-13 rating, but it’s a Blumhouse Production that was written and directed by Franck Khalfoun, so it’s still plenty shocking.  Check out Prey here at TubiTV.

Cobra (1986), courtesy Canon Film Distributors.

Cobra is about a hard-boiled cop who is on the front lines in the war against crime.  He winds up tasked with protecting a star witness against a criminal cult, and the cult will stop at nothing to silence the one person who can bring it down.

More apocalyptic crime thriller than horror movie, Cobra stars Sylvester Stallone in the lead role, and that tells you pretty much everything you need to know about this 1986 movie.  As if that wasn’t enough, Brigitte Nielsen co-stars as the witness.  Catch Cobra here at Vudu.

Stuck (2007), courtesy Image Entertainment.

Stuck is a 2007 movie about a woman who accidentally hits a homeless man with her car while driving drunk one night.  Not wanting to get arrested for driving-while-impaired, she flees the scene – with the mortally wounded man still sticking through her windshield.  She keeps him in her garage while she decides what to do.

Stuck is about as messed-up of a movie as one is bound to find, and it’s made even more messed-up by the fact that it was based on a true story.  Mena Suvari plays the hard-partying woman and Stephen Rea is the homeless hero in this Stuart Gordon-directed flick.  Get Stuck here at IMDB TV.

V for Vendetta (2005), courtesy Warner Bros.

V for Vendetta

Taking place in a futuristic version of Great Britain, V for Vendetta is about a young woman whose life is saved by an enigmatic figure known simply as V.  As she learns of V’s struggles, the woman decides to help him in his quest to overthrow the fascist government that has England teetering on the brink of turmoil.

V for Vendetta was made in 2005, and it’s set in the near future, but its message is just as applicable to today’s world as it is to any time.  The killer ensemble cast includes Natalie Portman, Hugo Weaving, John Hurt, and (again) Stephen Rea.  Portman shaved her head for this movie, so the least you can do is give it a watch.  You can watch it here at Vudu.

Be Still and Know (2019), courtesy Every New Day Pictures.

Be Still and Know

Be Still and Know is a 2019 made-for-TV movie about a pair of childhood friends who have grown apart over the years.  In an effort to reconnect, the two girls gather together some friends and go on a getaway to a cabin where they used to vacation as kids.  When one of them disappears, the rest of the group discovers that the woods outside the cabin aren’t as remote as they’d thought.

As one might surmise from the title, Be Still and Know is a Christian movie, and as such, it’s a pretty lightweight affair.  It does subscribe to all of the typical cabin-in-the-woods tropes, and does have a fun low-budget vibe, but it’s full of more eye-rolls than screams.  Have a look at Be Still and Know here at TubiTV.
