The Voices is about a mild-mannered factory worker who decides to pursue his office crush. When she stands him up, he begins having conflicted thoughts of murder, guided by the voices of his malicious talking cat and his benevolent talking dog.
This 2014 horror comedy is equal parts Heathers and American Psycho. Ryan Reynolds stars in the lead role and also contributes the voices of his crazy pets. Gemma Arterton and Anna Kendrick round out the cast. And stick around for the musical number that plays out over the closing credits. Check out The Voices here at Vudu.
DNA is a 1996 flick about a scientist who extracts DNA from the bones of a long extinct jungle creature. He is able to re-create the monster, but before he can capitalize on his success, the cloned beast goes on a killing spree that can only be stopped by a CIA agent and another scientist.
Of course, DNA is a straight-to-video movie. And it’s bad in the way that makes it a cult classic. Not quality cinema, but a fun watch. You can watch it here at TubiTV.
Before I Fall
Before I Fall is about a teenage girl who keeps waking up and living the same day over and over again. She has to figure out why, and in the process, save the lives of her and her close friends.
If that sounds like Happy Death Day, it kind of is, just not as slasheristic. It’s a supernatural Groundhog Day. Zoey Deutch and Halston Sage lead the hip young cast, and Big Data’s “Dangerous” will be stuck in your head after watching, because it’s the lead character’s wake up alarm on each repetitive day. Before I Fall is a lightweight 2017 mystery, but if that’s what you’re in the mood for, you can find it here at IMDB TV.
Halloweed is about a young man whose father was an infamous serial killer. To escape his familial reputation, he moves to a small town with his stoner brother. When a string of murders occurs in their new neighborhood, the guys wonder if a copycat killer has followed them there.
This 2016 horror comedy is exactly the movie that one would expect from a title like Halloweed. The mystery is predictable and the murders are purposely stereotypical. But there are a lot of good pot jokes. And the cast is loaded with cameos by big names like Danny Trejo, Tom Sizemore, Ray Wise, and (of course) Jason Mewes. Have a laugh with Halloweed here at Popcornflix.
The VelociPastor is about a priest who experiences a crisis of faith when he loses his parents. He travels to China, where he gains to ability to turn into a dinosaur. He uses his new found powers to fight crime, which seems to come in the form of ninjas. Yes, you read all of that right.
Surprisingly, this 2018 movie is not an Asylum production. It’s just a strangely silly as one, though. It’s a cross between First Reformed and Jurassic World as seen through a low-budget grindhouse filter. Catch The VelociPastor here at TubiTV.
