Hey Tightwads! It’s time for another batch of free movies, courtesy of Tightwad Terror Tuesday. And here we go…
Written and directed by Clive Barker, Hellraiser is about a group of sadomasochistic demons called Cenobites who trouble and torment anyone who is able to solve an enigmatic puzzle box.
Even those who have never seen Hellraiser are at least familiar with the lead Cenobite, Pinhead, played to perfection by Doug Bradley. This 1987 shocker is a literal must-see for horror fans, so if you haven’t, head over here to TubiTV and check it out.
Urban Legends: Bloody Mary
A while back, Tightwad Terror Tuesday pointed out where you could find the first two movies in the Urban Legend franchise, Urban Legend and Urban Legends: Final Cut. To complete the trifecta, now we’ve got Urban Legends: Bloody Mary. This 2005 threequel is about a group of girls who summons the spirit of a tormented teen – Bloody Mary – who, in turn, takes revenge on all of their friends, of course using popular urban legends to kill them.
Urban Legends: Bloody Mary was directed (fittingly) by Mary Lambert, and written by Mike Dougherty and Dan Harris. It also stars Kate Mara (and, in a blink-or-you’ll-miss-her cameo, her sister Rooney). For all of you Urban Legend completists out there, you can find Urban Legend: Bloody Mary here at Crackle.
Children of the Corn
After the success of films like Carrie, The Shining, and Christine, the words “based on a story by Stephen King” were enough to sell any film in the early eighties. Children of the Corn was adapted from a short story that was included in King’s Night Shift collection. The film has spawned several sequels and even one made-for-TV remake, but this is the original 1984 movie about the creepy kids who worship “He who walks behind the rows.”
Children of the Corn holds up well and is just as disturbing today as it was in its initial release. Watch it again (or for the first time, if that’s the case) right here at TubiTV.
The Void is about a police officer who happens upon a badly wounded man wandering around in the middle of the night. He takes him to a hospital, but soon enough, the building is surrounded by mysterious hooded figures. Yet staying inside the hospital may prove even more deadly than getting out.
This creative little spook flick was one of the surprise sleeper hits of 2016. It’s part cult flick, part siege movie, all wrapped up in a neat little gateway to hell package. Check out The Void here at Popcornflix.
The Eyes of My Mother
The Eyes of My Mother is about a girl whose mother, a surgeon, taught her about life, death, and dismemberment at a young age. A visit from a door-to-door salesman changes the girl’s life, plunging her into madness.
That synopsis is purposely vague, because the secrets of this 2016 gem are best left as unspoiled as possible. The Eyes of My Mother is a morbidly beautiful film, wonderfully shot with just enough brutality and gore to keep reminding the viewer that, yes, this is a horror movie. Check out The Eyes of My Mother here at Vudu.
