The Stuff (1985), courtesy New World Pictures.

The Stuff

The Stuff is about a strange gooey substance that is discovered oozing from the earth.  It’s delicious, so it’s immediately branded as the next big thing in snack foods.  But, as customers quickly figure out, The Stuff is much more that just a tasty treat.

This 1985 campfest is Larry Cohen’s thinly-veiled indictment of consumerism.  Because it’s a Larry Cohen picture, it also stars Michael Moriarty.  The Stuff is a creative combination of a creature feature, an alien invasion movie, and a good old-fashioned slasher flick.  It’s a must-watch, so if you must, you can find The Stuff here at TubiTV.

The Girl in the Photographs (2015), courtesy Vertical Entertainment.

The Girl in the Photographs

The Girl in the Photographs is a 2015 movie about a young woman who starts finding photos of murder scenes that seem to be placed purposely for her to find.  The police think it’s all a prank, but the girl believes there’s more to the pictures than meets the eye.

The Girl in the Photographs is a police procedural in the form of a brutal murder mystery.  It was written by Oz Perkins, Robert Morast, and director Nick Simon, and keep an eye out for horror legends Katharine Isabelle and Mitch Pileggi in the cast.  Check out The Girl in the Photographs here at Vudu.

Congo (1995), courtesy Paramount Pictures.

Congo is about a team of scientists that disappears while working on a powerful laser that uses diamonds as its power source.  A second team is assembled to find out what happened, and their adventure includes political unrest, lost cities, and mad gorillas.

Based on a Michael Crichton novel, this 1995 thriller is one of those movies that is just crazy enough for viewers to question how it got made, let alone with its kind of low-end star power.  The cast includes beloved B-listers like Laura Linney, Tim Curry, Dylan Walsh, Ernie Hudson, Joe Don Baker, Mary Ellen Trainor, and Stuart Pankin.  Congo also features a fun gorilla performance from Misty Rosas.  Catch Congo here at Popcornflix.

Battle Beyond the Stars (1980), courtesy New World Pictures.

Battle Beyond the Stars

Battle Beyond the Stars is about a peaceful planet that is under attack by an evil space tyrant.  So, a idealistic farmboy recruits a bunch of space mercenaries to help him defeat the space tyrant in space battle.

If that sounds like Star Wars meets The Magnificent Seven, well, that’s because it is.  This 1980 cheapie is a product of the Roger Corman Film School, so its script was written by John Sayles, it was scored by James Horner, and the cast includes fun names like Richard Thomas, John Saxon, George Peppard, Robert Vaughn, and Sybil Danning.  If you’re in the mood for some fun and corny sci-fi, you can see Battle Beyond the Stars here at ShoutFactoryTV.

Celebrity Ghost Stories (2008-), courtesy Biography Channel.

Celebrity Ghost Stories

Celebrity Ghost Stories is an A&E/Biography Channel series where, much like the name suggests, celebrities tell tales of their own personal paranormal experiences.  Through interviews and dramatic re-creations, the familiar faces explore their supernatural stories.

The first 3 seasons are included here, and the shows feature guests as varied as Carrie Fisher, John Waters, Alice Cooper, and Jerry Stiller.  Everyone has a story.  Some are funny, some are scary, but they’re all entertaining.  Binge through some Celebrity Ghost Stories here at TubiTV.
