Howling II: Your Sister is a Werewolf (1985), courtesy Cinema ’84/Greenberg Brothers Partnership.

Howling II: Your Sister is a Werewolf

True to its (awesome) name, Howling II: Your Sister is a Werewolf is about a man whose sister has been turned into a werewolf.  The brother teams up with one of his sister’s work colleagues and a professional werewolf hunter to travel to Transylvania and do battle with the werewolf queen.

This 1985 sequel picks up right where its 1981 predecessor leaves off.  It’s campier than the original, because director Philippe Mora realizes exactly what kind of movie he’s making.  Christopher Lee stars as the werewolf hunter and Sybil Danning plays the werewolf queen.  Check out Howling II: Your Sister is a Werewolf here at Vudu.

Wrong Turn 2: Dead End (2007), courtesy Twentieth Century Fox.

Wrong Turn 2: Dead End

And speaking of sequels – Wrong Turn 2 is a 2007 movie about a bunch of young and hip reality show contestants who are asked by their TV host to survive a post-apocalyptic experience in the mountain forests of West Virginia.  The game show turns real when they stumble upon a gruesome family of inbred mutant cannibals.

Like Howling II: Your Sister is a Werewolf, Wrong Turn 2: Dead End is more tongue-in-cheek than the first movie, and director Joe Lynch embraces the viscera.  Henry Rollins plays the drill sergeant-like host of the show, Erica Leerhsen plays the heroic Final Girl, and American Idol alum Kimberly Caldwell pops in for a quick cameo (and an unforgiving death).  Get messy with Wrong Turn 2: Dead End here at Crackle.

Lavalantula (2015), courtesy SyFy.

Lavalantula is about a bunch of lava-breathing spiders that terrorize the streets of Los Angeles after they are released by a string of volcanic eruptions.  An aging movie star must fight his way through them to get to his family.

Yes, Lavalantula is just as silly as it sounds.  This 2015 schlocker is a SyFy channel original, because of course it is.  It was directed by Mike Mendez, who also made Big Ass Spider!, so he knows his way around a corny spider movie.  Steve Guttenberg stars as the actor, and Nia Peeples plays his wife.  Get burned by Lavalatula here at Popcornflix.

Odd Thomas (2013), courtesy Image Entertainment.

Odd Thomas

Odd Thomas is about a young man who can see dead people.  When a mysterious stranger shows up with a group of mischievous spirits in tow, the guy has to convince the rest of the town that they are in trouble.

This 2013 horror comedy was based on a novel by the legendary Dean R. Koontz.  The late great Anton Yelchin plays the title character, and Willem Dafoe shows up as the town police chief.  Catch Odd Thomas here at TubiTV.

Best Worst Movie (2009), courtesy OJO Entertainment.

Best Worst Movie

Best Worst Movie is a 2009 documentary about the movie Troll 2.  It’s more than just a making-of film, though.  It covers the story of how the movie went from reviled failure to cult classic in just a couple of decades.

Best Worst Movie was put together by Michael Paul Stephenson, who starred in Troll 2, so it’s an insider’s look at the phenomenon.  Best Worst Movie is a surprisingly heartfelt and upbeat movie, and easily worth the ninety-or-so minutes of running time, whether you’re a fan of Troll 2 or not.  Have a look at Best Worst Movie here at IMDB Freedive.
