Hey Tightwads! Are you ready for summer? Well, we’ve got some free movies to help put you in the mood. And here they are…
Zombeavers is exactly what you think it is. It’s a 2014 movie about a group of kids who travel to a remote cabin on a lake for a weekend of sex and booze. Unfortunately for them, the lake is overrun with a horde of zombie beavers – zombeavers, get it?
This horror comedy is just as silly as it sounds, but if you’re looking for fun, this is it. It’s also a good mic drop for horror fans who are sick to death of zombies. The cast includes rising scream queens Cortney Palm, Lexi Atkins, and Rachel Melvin, and whoa! is that John Mayer? Check out Zombeavers here at Tubi TV.
Dream House Nightmare
Dream House Nightmare is about a couple that purchases their dream house in New Orleans. But the house comes at a price; there is a woman who believes that the home should belong to her and her family, and she will do anything to get the occupants to leave.
This 2017 made-for-TV movie beat The Intruder to the concept by a couple of years, but it’s not nearly as effective of a thriller. It’s a lightweight stalker-home invasion movie with a few good thrills and chills. You could say that it earns its TV movie label. Catch Dream House Nightmare here at Vudu.
Knights of Badassdom
Knights of Badassdom is about a bunch of Live Action Role Players (or LARPers) who go out to a forest to do their thing at a convention. Their role playing turns real, however, as a demon succubus is summoned, and they are forced to fight it off with their toy weapons.
This 2013 fantasy-comedy was directed by Joe Lynch, then promptly disowned by the filmmaker when the studio put it through massive re-edits. It’s an enjoyable romp, but it still might be fun to see Lynch’s original vision someday. The cast includes Steve Zahn, Summer Glau, Brian Posehn, Ryan Kwanten, and Peter Dinklage. Have a look at Knights of Badassdom here at Tubi TV.
September Storm is about a pair of treasure hunters who get a lead on a sunken cache of gold doubloons. They hire a boat to take them out to it, and the double- and triple-crosses fly just as quickly as one would expect them to when 3 million dollars’ worth of treasure is involved.
This 1960 aquatic adventure movie isn’t really a horror movie, it’s more of a tense thriller. Not as many sharks as the poster promises, but it does have some beautiful locations, and it was originally presented in Stereo-Vision, which combined 3D with Widescreen. It’s obviously not in Stereo-Vision here, but you can see September Storm here at ShoutFactoryTV.
Mean Creek is a 2014 movie about a kid who gets beaten up by a local bully. The kids brother and friends come up with a plan that involves luring the bully out into the woods and making him walk home naked, but the plan goes horribly awry.
Mean Creek has the same vibe as a coming of age movie, but Stand By Me it is not. It’s a bit predicable once it gets rolling, but it’s still the type of conveyor belt movie that viewer can not get off of once they’re on it. Visit Mean Creek here at Kanopy.
