What’s up, Tightwads! It’s that time of the week again. Let this batch of free movies be your beacon of warmth in the middle of this cold winter. And here they are…
Who’s Watching Oliver
Who’s Watching Oliver is about a mentally unstable, socially awkward young man who picks up women and brings them back to his dingy apartment, killing them in front of his mother on Skype. His life is turned upside down when falls for one of his prospective victims.
This 2017 shocker is a mean and nasty little movie. It’s more than just a slasher, it’s sort of like American Psycho for the digital age. Russell Geoffrey Banks turns in a brilliant performance in the lead role, Sara Malakul Lane is stunning as the love interest, and Margaret Roche is psychotic as the mother. Check out Who’s Watching Oliver here on TubiTV.
Good Time is a 2017 crime drama about a pair of brothers who are involved in a botched bank robbery that sends one of them to prison. The other one embarks on a crazy, night-long quest to spring him from jail.
Although Good Time is not a real horror movie per se, it is a brutal and violent tale. Forever trying to reinvent himself after Twilight, Robert Pattinson is ruthlessly effective as the fiercely loyal free brother, while the film’s director, Benny Safdie, portrays the jailed one. Have a Good Time right here at Kanopy.
Spiders is a nifty science fiction creature feature about a DNA experiment aboard a space shuttle that goes horribly wrong. The subjects of the test, spiders, are mutated to giant size, and of course, they escape to Earth where they wreak havoc.
This 2000 movie seems like it would be a SyFy original, but it’s not. It’s just a schlocky, fun monster movie. No more, no less. Have a look at Spiders here at Popcornflix.
Memories of Murder
Memories of Murder is about a pair of detectives who are investigating a couple of murders in their South Korean district. When a third detective is brought in from the big city to help crack the case, the bodies start to pile up, and the trio learns that they are dealing with a serial killer.
Made in 2003, this hard-boiled-yet-farcical Korean police procedural is a rare combination of action, horror, and comedy. This is a must-see for fans of Korean cinema. If that’s you, you can find Memories of Murder here at Viewster.
Outrage is a 1950 film noir about a young woman who is brutally attacked while walking home from work. Panicked, she flees her home and her fiancé, but she can’t outrun the sheer horror of what she’s been through.
It’s not exactly I Spit on Your Grave, but Outrage is an effective movie about the psychological torment that is often found in the aftermath of assault. It was also directed by the unsung female filmmaker Ida Lupino, who is nothing short of a badass. So watch Outrage right here at YouTube.
