The Terminator (1984), courtesy Orion Pictures.

The Terminator

Although it really needs no introduction, The Terminator is a 1984 sci-fi thriller about a cyborg who is sent from the future to kill the potential mother of an important revolutionary figure.  The revolutionaries send a man back to protect her, but of course, the deck is stacked against the man and the mother.

Besides it being an absolute classic of the sci-fi genre, The Terminator is an important movie for a couple of reasons.  Not only was it the coming out party for influential director James Cameron, but the movie made an international star out of strongman Arnold Schwarzenegger.  If you haven’t seen The Terminator, what are you waiting for?  You can find it here at Vudu.

Phobia (2013), courtesy Image Entertainment.

Phobia is a micro-budget horror movie about a man who locks himself away in his apartment after the death of his wife, his only contact with the outside world being visits from his best friend, his therapist, and the woman who delivers his groceries.  Oh, and the home invader who keeps stopping by, and did we mention the ghostly presence that haunts his home?

Phobia was originally called Alone, which is actually a better name because there are about a half dozen other movies called Phobia, even one from the same year of 2013.  Title aside, Phobia is an inventive little thriller that kind of falls victim to its limited production values.  Sarah Schoofs is the high point as the dead wife.  Check out Phobia here at TubiTV.

Sharktopus vs. Pteracuda (2014), courtesy SyFy.

Sharktopus vs. Pteracuda

How do you follow up a movie about a half-shark/half-octopus?  By having it fight a half-pterodactyl/half-barracuda, that’s how.  And that’s pretty much what the self-explanatory Sharktopus vs. Pteracuda is.

Like its predecessor, this 2014 monster mash-up is (quite obviously) a SyFy Original Movie.  You pretty much know what you’re in for from the title.  Robert Carradine, best known as Lewis from Revenge of the Nerds, is the requisite washed-up star leading man, and Conan O’Brien makes an appearance as himself.  Catch Sharktopus vs. Pteracuda here at ShoutFactoryTV.

Chip & Bernie’s Zomance (2015), courtesy Murena Entertainment.

Chip & Bernie’s Zomance

Chip & Bernie’s Zomance is a 2015 horror comedy about six teams of two that compete to find out which is the best pair of zombie killers in the apocalypse.  The movie primarily focuses on a pair of dimwitted exterminators, of course named Chip and Bernie, who have their eyes on the prize.

This one is absolutely ridiculous, but it’s good for some belly laughs.  Just invite some friends over to watch and share the chuckles.  Marc Robert and Pasquale Murena play the titular characters (who have a whole Chip & Bernie franchise, apparently – who knew?), and Tim Conway shows up to support them.  If you don’t have too much zombie fatigue, have a look at Chip & Bernie’s Zomance here at Popcornflix.

Werewolves of the Third Reich (2017), courtesy 4Digital Media.

Werewolves of the Third Reich

And speaking of fatigue…Werewolves of the Third Reich is pretty much exactly what the title suggests.  A group of American G.I.s stumbles upon Dr. Josef Mengele’s plan to pack the German army with werewolf super-soldiers.

This 2017 flick is like a combination of Dog Soldiers and Overlord, but frankly, isn’t nearly as good as either of those.  It’s brainless fun, so if you’re not sick to death of werewolves or war movies, give Werewolves of the Third Reich a look here at Crackle.
