What’s happening, Tightwads? How’s your October going? Will some free movies help it out? Hopefully so, because here they come…
Return of the Living Dead Part II
Not long ago, Tightwad Terror Tuesday brought you The Return of the Living Dead. This week, we’ve got the 1988 sequel, the appropriately titled Return of the Living Dead Part II. This one picks up pretty much where the last movie left off, with some meddling kids finding the infamous drums of Trioxen gas and accidentally releasing their contents, predictably bringing the dead back to life for some zombie fun.
Return of the Living Dead Part II is pretty much more of the same that you got from The Return of the Living Dead. You already know if you want to see it or not. If you do, you can find it here at Vudu.
Darling is about a young woman who gets a job as a caretaker at an old house. The house has a history, though, and seems to be haunted by the memories of its past. Either that, or all of the creepiness is just in the poor girl’s head.
This 2015 thriller is presented in black and white and has a fairly minimalistic style, drawing obvious (and deserved) comparisons to Roman Polansky’s Repulsion. Lauren Ashley Carter, Sean Young, Brian Morvant, Larry Fessenden, and Helen Rogers appear in this Mickey Keating written-and-directed spook flick. Check out Darling right here at Popcornflix.
The Greasy Strangler
The Greasy Strangler is about a father-and-son team who wind up competing for the affections of the same woman. Oh, and the city is being stalked by a mysterious oily killer who may or may not be connected to the family.
Honestly, I hate this movie. I felt robbed of 95 minutes of my life when I was done with it. But, this 2016 schlockfest does have plenty of people who swear by it, so it may be worth a look to someone out there. If that’s you, you can have your look at it right here at Kanopy.
EXistenZ is about a video game designer who is attacked while testing out her newest game. Along with an assistant, she goes on the run. She and her new protector further test the game, winding up in a virtual world where they can’t tell what’s real and what’s part of the game.
Made in 1999, eXistenZ is David Cronenberg’s most techo-babble-y movie since Videodrome. Jennifer Jason Leigh stars as the designer with Jude Law as her assistant, while the support cast includes names like Willem Dafoe, Sarah Polley, and Ian Holm. Play eXistenZ here at TubiTV.
Hammer House of Horror
Just as the name might suggest, Hammer House of Horror is an anthology television show produced by Hammer Productions. The hour long episodes deal with all things Hammer, from haunted houses to demonic possession.
This British show only ran for one season in 1980, but Shout Factory TV has the whole 13 episode package online for your viewing pleasure. Catch Hammer House of Horror here.
