Season’s Greetings, Tightwads! Here are some hot free movies to help get you through the chilly winter nights.
Since this is the last Tightwad Terror Tuesday before Christmas, we’ll open this week up with Red Christmas. This 2016 thriller is about an already dysfunctional family whose Christmas celebration is interrupted by a mysterious stranger. However, the stranger isn’t so mysterious to the mom of the family. Part suspenseful slasher and part tasteless schlock, Red Christmas has to be seen to be believed. In case you’re not sold on it yet, everyone’s favorite horror mom, Dee Wallace, stars as, of course, the mom. Check out Red Christmas right here at Popcornflix.
Buried is a 2010 movie about an American truck driver in Iraq who is kidnapped by a group of insurgents. He wakes up buried undergound in a coffin with only a lighter and a cell phone, and has to use all of his resources and smarts to figure a way out. For a movie that takes place entirely inside of a man-sized human box, Buried is surprisingly engaging. It also stars dreamboat Ryan Reynolds in the main role. Unearth Buried here at TubiTV.
Also known as a Kiss from Eddie and The Arousers, Sweet Kill is about a man who, thanks to memories of his abusive mother, can only get sexually aroused by dead women. So, of course, he picks up women and kills them for erotic kicks. This 1972 Roger Corman-produced B-movie was written and directed by future Academy Award winner Curtis Hanson (L.A. Confidential). Keep your eyes peeled for a young Angus Scrimm. Catch Sweet Kill right here at ShoutFactoryTV.
The generically titled Secret Screams, also known by the equally generic title Grave Secrets, is a 1989 ghost story about a supernaturally tormented woman who teams up with a professor of the paranormal in order to investigate a malevolent spirit. There’s a cool cast in this one, including Paul Le Mat, Renée Soutendijk, Olivia Barash, and Lee Ving (yes, from the punk band Fear). Hear (and see) Secret Screams here at Vudu.
Amy is about a psychic Amish girl, named Amy, who has visions of her village being overrun by demons. With the help of the town’s funeral director, Amy must stop the demons without losing her own soul in the process. This 2013 occult flick is a bit silly, but it’s good for a few thrills and chills (and even a few more unintentional laughs). If you’re up for it, you can find Amy right here at Snagfilms.
