This Nerdist ‘CATS Sematary’ Trailer is the Remix We Didn’t Know We Needed

The folks over at The Nerdist got creative this week, blending the trailers for 2019’s Pet Sematary and the trailer for the upcoming Andrew Lloyd Webber musical movie CATS to create CATS Sematary, and it’s a beautiful, hilarious, and creepy thing to behold.

On the surface, the two films couldn’t be more different, but once you dig into the “plot” of CATS and discover that all of the characters are actually deceased and vying for a chance to be reborn into a new life, well, the pieces start to fit together nicely.

The CATS trailer, with its CGI fur and wildly over-sized sets has been called one of the creepiest trailers of the year, and has found itself mashed-up with more than one horror title already since it release.

Mere days after it hit YouTube someone had taken the video and overlaid the creep remix of Luniz’s “I Got 5 on It” that was featured in Jordan Peele’s US. Peele himself shared that video and gave his whole-hearted approval for it.

What The Nerdist has done might work even better, however. A major plot point in Pet Sematary involves Louis Creed burying the family cat in cursed ground only to see it return from the dead after all, and who knows, maybe Old Deuteronomy is in charge of sending back cursed cats, as well?

Either way, we’re sold on what these guys created, and we wouldn’t mind seeing CATS Sematary ourselves. Check it out below!
