It’s a good day to be an Anne Rice fan! For months now, we’ve been waiting word on the broadcast home of the long-form television series based on The Vampire Chronicles. According to news from The Wrap released today, that home will be Hulu!

This is incredible news for fans of the Chronicles. Hulu has built a reputation for producing high-quality, no-holds-barred original content for several years now with shows like The Handmaid’s Tale and the highly anticipated Castle Rock based on the world of Stephen King which will debut later this month.

Both Anne and her son, Christopher Rice, will serve as executive producers on the show  which is set to tell the story of French nobleman turned vampire, Lestat de Lioncourt. From what we’ve learned, this would place the beginning of the series where Lestat, himself, takes over telling his story in the 1985 novel, The Vampire Lestat.

That means that fans of the original 1976 Interview with the Vampire may have to wait a while for Louis and Claudia to enter Lestat’s tale. After all, a great deal happened to the Brat Prince of Vampires before he even became a vampire, and it will be interesting to see how much of that story is told in the series.

Rice has spoken at length online about her desire to create a series that is true to her work and characters, and I, for one, can hardly wait to see Lestat, Armand, Louis, Claudia, Gabrielle, Maharet and the rest of her immortal characters come to life the way she herself has dreamed.

There’s currently no word on when the series will premiere but now that we know where it will happen, news of when and who will be joining the cast is sure to follow, and iHorror will keep you posted on all of the latest news.
